# Using Customer Portal

This guide is for staff who manage the portal and owners deciding what to expose. Every step uses the labels you see on screen.

## Using Customer Portal (editor how-to)

### How to choose what customers see

1. Go to **Customer Portal**.
2. Choose which cards and **self-service links** appear on **Your portal**.
3. Save. Signed-in customers see the items you enabled.

### How to review support requests

1. Open **Support requests**.
2. Read each request and its requester details.
3. Follow up with the customer as needed.

### How to check the customer view

1. Use **Open customer portal** to see what a signed-in customer sees.
2. Confirm the cards and links look right before relying on them.

## Rolling out Customer Portal (for owners)

### Turn on first

- **A few high-value self-service links.** Start with the things customers ask for most (their details, support) before adding more cards.

### Add when needed

| Need | Enable |
| -------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- |
| Let customers manage preferences | Preference cards (for example **Product updates**) |
| Reduce inbound support | More **self-service links** |

### Don't enable yet

- Don't crowd the portal with every possible card on day one. Add cards as customers need them.

### Who does what

| Role | First useful screen |
| ------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Support staff | **Support requests** |
| Site owner | **Self-service** links: decide what is exposed |

## Troubleshooting for editors

| What you see | What it means | What to do |
| ------------------------------- | ------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------- |
| The portal looks empty | No cards or links are enabled | Enable **self-service links** and cards |
| A customer can't see the portal | They aren't signed in, or lack access | Confirm they are signed in with the right account |
| A support request has no reply | It hasn't been actioned | Open **Support requests** and follow up |
