Overview
What this theme gives you
Section titled “What this theme gives you”Bistro turns a restaurant website into an evening journey: visitors move from the atmosphere and the chef’s story into the current menu, signature dishes, practical visit details, and a clear reservation path.
How to use it
Section titled “How to use it”- Open the theme-management entry for Theme Bistro, note the site’s current theme, and select only the site you intend to review.
- Choose Preview Theme Bistro to view this theme privately on that site’s existing content without changing its selected theme. Check available page areas, sections and the mobile layout; create a page first if there is nothing to preview.
- When ready, choose Apply Theme Bistro for that site. This changes its public design immediately, including already-published pages.
- Choose Bistro Noir, Bistro Daylight, or Bistro Brasserie in Theme Studio, then adjust the normal theme controls.
- Build pages in Layout Builder using the Bistro restaurant sections and the shared Foundation sections.
- Enter current menu prices, dietary notes, hours, reservation details, contact information, and image descriptions.
- Preview desktop and mobile layouts, keyboard navigation, and reduced motion before publishing.
To recover the previous design, reopen the previous theme’s management entry, select the same site and choose its Apply button. This restores the theme selection; it does not undo content or shared Theme Studio settings. Saving those settings can affect public pages using that theme, so do not treat settings edits as private preview changes.
Restaurant sections
Section titled “Restaurant sections”- Cinematic stage for a short three-to-five-beat restaurant story.
- Menu rail for a swipeable, keyboard-accessible run of dishes.
- Menu board for dinner chapters and prices, including a tasting-menu variant.
- Chef story, dish gallery, review wall, and private dining storytelling.
- Hours and location plus a reservation banner with safe fallbacks.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Keep stage stories concise. Three beats usually make the strongest opening; five is the enforced maximum.
- Bistro never hides content behind animation. Reduced-motion visitors see the same story in a stacked layout.
- Installing Bookings or Form Builder does not select a ready destination. In the reservation banner appearance controls, enter real telephone/email details, choose the reservation destination, configure and open it, then confirm that you checked it. The saved destination choice is used only when confirmed and available. Enabling another package does not switch a confirmed form or external link to Bookings. Real contact alternatives stay visible. The Bookings field shows its configured public route; configure the service before confirming. For Form Builder, create and name the form, place it on a published page and copy its page/anchor URL. Changing a destination clears confirmation. Demonstration email and telephone defaults are not offered as contact actions. Existing authored URLs from before destination choices were introduced remain active until an editor chooses a destination. The editor is prompted to review and confirm the link; known demo booking/form URLs are excluded from this compatibility path.
- The demo business, people, menu, prices, telephone number, address, and email are fictional. Replace them before publishing.
- The theme presents restaurant content but does not create bookings, take payments, or manage menu inventory by itself.
Try fictional demo content safely
Section titled “Try fictional demo content safely”Use private theme Preview for existing content. Ask a developer to follow safe demo setup in a disposable local site when you want fictional sample pages instead.
A scoped demo run writes sample pages, widgets and demo layouts, including on repeats, and can adopt the site recovery page. An unscoped run refuses existing sites; a scoped run preserves site configuration unless the developer deliberately chooses the documented overwrite option. Review the target, languages and domains together before setup.
